Shelie Brummett graduated from Indiana University in 1994 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Upon graduating she began her career as an Associate Behavioral Clinician at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center. At the time, entering the MR/DD field seemed more like “a pretty good fit”…..looking back Shelie now knows she was destined to serve people with special needs. In 1998, Shelie earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Indiana University. Shortly after completing her Master’s degree, Shelie was provided the opportunity to work in a private practice providing individual and group therapy. During this time, many referrals from local Behavioral Clinicians were being made and Shelie’s clientele began to fill with individuals with special needs….. a newly married special needs couple struggling with adjusting to a new way of living as husband and wife, a special needs adult who lived a home with her parents her entire life and trying to cope with their deaths as well as adjust to group home life…..As these referrals grew, Shelie began to feel a strong desire to return to a career providing behavior supports. It was the birth of her son Max that help Shelie decide to go with her passion and return to a career focused completely on the MR/DD population. As a proud parent of a son with Autism, Shelie began searching for a company who would not only strongly support the individuals they serve but strongly support her needs as a special needs parent as well. Shelie found this match with Insights Consulting and began working as a Behavior Consultant in March of 2007. Shelie works hard to develop a strong connection to the individuals that she serves, the staff who provide them with care and the teams that she is a part of, including family and guardians. She feels strongly that when all the right pieces of the puzzle are in place, behavior supports can results in amazing change. Shelie lives in Seymour with her husband Chris, her son Max and daughter Blythe. Shelie provides services in the southern area of Indiana, primarily Jackson and Jennings County.
