Katy Bird graduated from Indiana University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Upon graduating she began pursuing her Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling through Ball State University. During her Master’s program, she had the opportunity to work with Vocational Rehabilitation, Motivate our Minds, and Outside the Box, Inc.. During these experiences she honed her therapeutic skills working with adults and children with mental illness and Intellectual Disabilities in individual and small group settings. After graduation, Katy was hired at Outside the Box, Inc. and serves now in that capacity as the Coordinator of Therapeutic Day Services. Katy came to work for Insights in February 2012. She has a passion for psychosocial aspects of disability and she is a strong believer in positive therapy supports. She hopes to inspire the individuals she works with to live their best life and, in turn, to continue to be inspired herself.
