Julie graduated from The University of Akron, in Akron, Ohio, in 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She then went on to Ball State University where she received an M.A. in Counseling in 1997. After graduation, Julie moved to Indianapolis and worked as a crisis counselor at Midtown CMHC’s Crisis Intervention Unit from 1997 to 2000. She also worked as a school-based counselor through Midtown during her employment there. During her time at Midtown, Julie became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor.
Julie left community mental health to work in a residential facility as a social worker for children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and behavioral issues. It was there that she learned about Insights, and she began working as a behavioral consultant for Insights in 2001. In 2004, Julie left Insights and worked as a Licensed Therapist at a community mental health center, but she returned to Insights in 2007. Julie has always enjoyed working with persons with developmental disabilities. Even as a therapist, she served persons with special needs, in both group and individual therapy. She feels that working as a behavioral consultant with Insights gives her the opportunity to advocate for her clients while helping them to achieve their goals to have a fulfilling life.
