Celeste is excited to join the team at Insights! Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, she received her bachelor’s in music therapy from Seton Hill University and completed a university affiliated internship in 2016. Shortly thereafter, Celeste became board-certified in February 2017. Since then, she has worked mainly with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities. Most recently, she has been working in a K-12 alternative school setting with students with emotional and behavioral diagnoses, teaching an adaptive and therapeutic music class. Since Fall 2018, Celeste has been working towards her master’s in music therapy with a counseling concentration at Slippery Rock University, where she focuses on transformative and social justice practices in music therapy. Celeste believes that music therapy is a situated and reflexive process wherein the therapist and participant expand both individual and collective wholeness, she believes in presuming competence and strives to work from a systemic and multiculturally responsive framework. She enjoys all areas of music making, but more recently has begun to incorporate music technology in her work. In her spare time, Celeste enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, cross stitching, making music and being with her two cats!
